| This modern living room design incorporates some great contrasting elements. The
combination of the rich textures throughout, the soft upholstery, and the warm color scheme create
a perfect balance. The sitting nook in the window is a great design element but adding a piece of
artwork above the fireplace would have complemented the space nicely. (photo by

| This interior has combined a modern look with a retro flare. The window treatment
design in combination with the straight cut furniture carry a geometric theme throughout the space.
Contrasting those elements with the use of soft textured upholstery and a warm color scheme, help bring the entire space together. (photo by Jordi

The thing I love about this space is it’s use of color. Notice the furniture in the room is all very neutral (white, grey, and black), yet
the room feels very warm and lived in. The decision to paint the walls in such a prominent
color makes the entire space pop. Because the ceiling in the space is so high and there is a
lot of natural light flooding the room, this dark wall
color helps create a more intimate environment. In a smaller space with lower ceilings it
may be a better idea to use the dark color on a feature wall instead and provide a few accenting
sofa pillows to tie it all together. (Huelsta)

CAD Spot by Bruck Lighting Systems

| Though this living room interior is quite simple, it's a great example of how to
incorporate flexibility into a room. The movable cushions or ottomans, allow for a variety of activities to occur while the
task lighting can be adjusted to create many different
moods. (photo by Luis Ros) |

Shanghai Mix Orange Rug by Hokku Designs
|
| This space shows modern minimalism by the use if it's clean lines, various shapes and
neutral color palette. The use of the deep orange area rug pulls the room together very well. To
keep the room from looking to sterile, a large indoor plant could be placed in the corner and some
soft alternate lighting options could be introduced. One final step to complete the space would be
to introduce a window treatment design. (photo by Jordi Miralles) |

| The warm and inviting atmosphere of this living room remodeling project is created
with the use of its soft material and warm color scheme. The maple wood finish and the sandy
color of the light fixture tie in nicely with the faux finish on the wall and are complemented
beautifully with the warm greys and touch of purple. The contrast between the color values
(ie. the dark wood floor, the medium toned furniture and window treatment design, and
the light colored walls) create a perfect visual balance in the space. (photo by Richard
